to avoid damaging your email & domain reputation in 2024
Google and Yahoo, two of the world’s largest email companies, have announced strict requirements for bulk emailers that will take effect February 1, 2024.
Google and Yahoo have implemented stricter border controls to differentiate between legitimate and harmful email. It sends out a clear warning to those who send mass emails: “Stick with the rules or you’ll face the consequences.” These changes will improve the ability to identify legitimate emails and create a more secure environment.
We have mentioned this many times in the previous. DMARC is also very important, as we do not hide or mask any domain names of a sender.
This article highlights how important it is to comply with the new regulations, and the possible consequences that could befall businesses who do not.
All email senders, regardless of volume, must follow the following technical changes.
What We Did About That
Here’s a list of the actions we have already taken:

- Valid forward and reverse DNS record for all domains
- Use of TLS for email transmission
- Google Postmaster Tools: Maintain reported spam rates below 0.1%
- Avoiding impersonation in Gmail headers . (WE NEVER DID THIS and WE are proud of that!)
Rules for Bulk Email Senders
Bulk email senders are required to adhere to certain rules in addition to general requirements.
-
Valid DMARC records with at least a None policy
-

- Domain alignment on at least one protocol (SPF, DKIM or DKIM), for a DMARC Pass
- All emails that require unsubscription must include a mandatory one-click option to unsubscribe. (You are safe, as we already do this for you!)
Risks of Missing the Deadline
Failure to meet these deadlines can have serious consequences. Google and Yahoo could mark emails as spam, or block them. This would impact overall email activity and domain reputation. “Policies denied is policy delayed,” captures the urgency of this situation.
