25 clever ways to promote a blog: How to get it noticed: You have worked hard on your blog post. After you hit publish, you grab a cup of coffee and open Google Analytics to see all the traffic you have attracted. It’s true; you must try different ways to promote your blog posts to attract an engaged audience.

The truth is that just because someone has read your blog post doesn’t necessarily mean they will. The internet is very noisy. According to recent statistics, around 10,000,000 blog posts are posted each day. This is a lot of content every minute. What can you do to make sure your blog posts are being read?

This article contains my top tips for promoting a blog post.

Let’s start by discussing how to measure your efforts.

25 clever ways to promote a blog: How to get it noticed: Your success can be measured

When doing the following promotional activities, you must try different methods to find what works for you. It would be a lot of work to try all of these methods with each post. Find out what your audience responds to best and include those items in your promotional to-do list.

Google Analytics is a great tool to help you with this. This screen capture shows social media traffic to this blog post. This level of detail can be found at acquisition > Social

Social acquisition in Google Analytics

In the above example you can see that Facebook had the largest audience and Instagram had the lowest response. In the future, you might want to focus more on your Facebook audience and less on your Instagram.

25 clever ways to promote a blog: How to get it noticed: A UTM code can be used to get more precise information. These codes can be tracked in Google Analytics under Campaigns. To track a campaign, a UTM is just a set of tracking parameters that you can add to a URL.

Using Google UTM Builder to track clicks

We can get URLs that look like this by using the CampaignURL Builder, as shown above.

To make a shorter URL that contains this UTM detail you can use bitly, or any other URL shortener. For example, https://bit.ly/2YZzo7A is the short URL version of the link above.

Why bother? If you don’t measure your traffic effectively, how can you tell what the above methods are doing? You are really flying blind if you don’t count.

25 clever ways to promote your blog posts

All of these methods have worked for me to promote blog posts. Yes, there have been mixed results depending on the blog, post, and audience. All of us can agree that not all things will work out for you. (25 clever ways to promote a blog: How to get it noticed)

As with all digital marketing, your audience and content will likely differ from mine. It’s worth trying out different channels before narrowing down on the best ones for you and your audience.

Blog promotion methods

We’ll cover the following when discussing how to promote a blog article. Click the name to jump to the method, or scroll down for the entire article (recommended).

Let’s get into it and explain how each one works.

Sites with curated content

There are many curated content websites, some more niche than others. Others, like Flipboard, have a more comprehensive range of content. You can register as a Flipboard Publisher and submit your RSS feed. Your posts will be added to Flipboard automatically.

Flipboard is not the only one that offers curated content. A few other services also provide curated content.

Subscribe to our email newsletter

A newsletter that includes a roundup and summary of the most recent blog posts is one standard method brands, and blogs use for promoting their blog posts or a series of posts. The 6Q monthly newsletter, for example, contains four articles that we have published in the past month. Google Analytics shows us a steady increase in traffic every month after we hit send.

Mailerlite is my favorite email newsletter software. But I’ve used and recommended Campaign Monitor, and Mailchimp.

Twitter

25 clever ways to promote a blog: How to get it noticed with Twitter: A Twitter account is excellent for blog promotion. You can post a link directly to your most recent post. When you share URLs from websites with a Twitter code, Twitter will show a visual card of the link, such as the one below.

You will understand why you need to use a few hashtags if you’ve read my guide on content marketing on Twitter. You will have a greater chance of your tweet being discovered by people who don’t follow or like you.

It is a good idea to share the same link twice, as Twitter streams are moving quickly. To maximize the chance that your followers see it, send a tweet at 10.00 am and again at 10.00 pm if you’re targeting people from different time zones.

Site homepage

Your website is not just your blog. The homepage can be used to display the latest posts from your company’s website. The Bam Creative website has a panel that displays the three most recent posts. It is automatically pulled from the blog.

Your latest posts should be highlighted wherever possible on your website. This type of promotion for blog posts will show that you are actively publishing and help drive repeat visitors and traffic.

Facebook

25 clever ways to promote a blog: How to get it noticed with Facebook:  If you have a Facebook fan page, I recommend sharing your blog post there. Try out a variety of headlines and copy.

Facebook prefers native posting and not through a social media scheduling tool like Publicler or Buffer. So, you might try both. Remember that your audience might not be in your time zone, so you can post the same link at different times throughout the week.

You could also take your competitors. In-process Facebook competitor analysis software will help you determine how your competitors are performing.

My favorite trick is to use emojis inline. You can see that I checked in at Bam Creative and added an emotion.

Facebook Groups

25 clever ways to promote a blog: How to get it noticed with Fadcebook Groups: Some groups on Facebook encourage members to post self-promotional or something they have written. Ensure that any group you post in allows you to promote yourself. Many communities will quickly ban you and label you a spammer.

Several Facebook groups that I belong to have threads or days. A weekly line for self-promotion or a “Sell it Saturday” type of thing.

Services for content recommendation

You’ve probably seen panels that display article headlines and images, along with section headers like “Also on Google” or “Recently Published”. A handful of content recommendation platforms power these panels, including;

These services enable you to add your blog posts as campaigns and to pay for them to be featured on media sites.

LinkedIn

25 clever ways to promote a blog: How to get it noticed with LinkedIn: You can share your blog post on LinkedIn from your company page and your profile. You can try a variety of introductions, images, and other techniques to find the best one for you.

You should encourage key team members to do the same on LinkedIn profiles. They can do it on their own, but don’t try and force them to.

LinkedIn Groups

25 clever ways to promote a blog: How to get it noticed with LinkedIn Groups: Many LinkedIn Groups encourage users to share their links. Some groups have more than 100,000 members. This is a vast audience. Double-check that self-promotion is allowed according to the rules and with other group members.

LinkedIn Groups for blog promotion

It is not enough to sign up and then start sharing self-promotional links. You should be open to interacting with other group members and be helpful and genuine, just like in all forums and online groups. You shouldn’t join to be promotional. That is not a good idea. In no time, you’ll be called a spammer.

Refind

25 clever ways to promote a blog: How to get it noticed with Refind: Refind’s interface is intuitive and easy to use. Refind makes it easy to quickly add links and create a nice folio with your written work. You can make collections according to different topics, interests, or titles.

Mix

In June 2018, Stumbleupon closed its doors after 16 years. They also migrated their existing users to Mix.com. This is a much better interface and overall experience than SU. This is social bookmarking in the 21st century, with a 2021 design.

Sign up to create an account and click the plus symbol for a blog post promotion. These links can be added to any collection you create, including topic areas and blog names.

Pinterest

A popular visual way to promote a blog article is by using the Pinterest platform. Sign up for a Pinterest Business account. Next, create a few boards with keyword rich titles and fill them with relevant articles and links. You can then create rich pins on Pinterest to promote your latest blog posts.

Email Signature

A great way to promote a blog article is to automatically add the most recent post to your email signature. Some tools will automatically grab the RSS feeds from your company or team and add them to your email signature. These tools are easy to use and can be set up and forgotten.

Email signature with a blog post

You can also update the text and link after every blog post if you don’t have the budget for an automated RSS-to-email signature service.

Quora

You can search the Quora question and answer site to find pertinent questions. The answer will include a long answer that links to your post. Don’t spam. Make sure you provide value with your responses.

This blogger promotes his Grammarly discount page, which is genuine and very useful.

Promoting blog posts using Quora

You can also leverage Quora by using their questions to find topics to write about. Then you can write a quality blog post and link it to the same question-answer page.

Reddit

Reddit is an enormous discussion forum, where you will find subreddits (specific forums dedicated to anything and everything). Reddit users are known for not taking self-promotional posts well. So be careful to ensure that you are genuine and helpful with any posts you post there.

There are a few subreddits you should check out:

Make sure to read and follow the rules of subreddit, so that you can provide value to the group.

Instagram

Instagram can be a more difficult platform to promote your post because you only have one link in your profile. There are a few ways around this:

Linkpeas allows you to create links to interstitial pages. These pages have a list of evolving links.

Create an Instagram account for your blog. Your blog URL can be used in the profile. You can then upload images and videos with each post.

Upload the video or image, and then in the description, paste the URL. Or ask others to search your profile link for it. You can use Instagram analytics to check the performance of your post and make other decisions. You could invest in an Instagram Growth Service to reach a wider audience.

Add to content libraries

You can add blog posts to Missinglettr Cuate for others to enjoy.

In the past few years, I have used Quuu Promote quite a bit. It’s excellent value considering the price and reaches.

TikTok

TikTok is a new platform that’s rapidly growing its popularity and user base. There are many examples of marketers using short videos to talk to the camera and highlight their most recent blog posts. The link is then added to their profile or used by one of the single-profile link services like Linkpeas.

Recently, I wrote an article about TikTok on the Bam Creative blog. I encourage you to check it out.

Medium

Many bloggers swear by the power and network effect of reposting posts on Medium. I don’t think it has much value unless there is a lot of traffic to the site. However, it’s simple and quick.

Use their import-a-post tool to add canonical tags to every post you bring in. Otherwise, you could run into duplicate content problems. These magical HTML elements are available to you over at Google.

Guest posting on the relevant sites

You may already know that I have previously written blog posts on pitching a guest post. It is worth noting posts on a similar topic if you regularly post about it. Also, make sure you have backlinks to your site.

Guest posting is a great way to get exposure and backlinks. To ensure that you’re not wasting too much effort on a low-value blog, always check the metrics.

YouTube

Some people find that YouTube is a great place to promote their blog posts, similar to TikTok. Neil Patel, a well-known digital marketing entrepreneur, will post a video on something he’s built or written. Then he uses the video description section to provide a transcript and also link to related content, such as the most recent blog post.

This example shows Neil doing this well. It has received over 8,500 views in a five-minute video.

Others bloggers will follow the same procedure and embed the YouTube video in their blog posts. This provides an alternative video option for people who don’t want a long blog post. You can also compare the effectiveness and strategies of other channels by looking at their YouTube Analytics.

Eye-catchy thumbnails are a great way to get your audience to click on your videos. It’s a great way to convert YouTube videos. You don’t need to be an expert to create one. thumbnail maker makes it easy to create a stunning design in just a few mouse clicks.

Snapchat

You can share your latest blog post just like YouTube and TikTok. You don’t have time to write each video.

Use one of the many “one bio link” type services to link from you bio. Or, update your Snapchat bio each time you publish a blog post.

Email outreach

It may be worthwhile to reach out to influencers via email and suggest they have a look. Ask for a quote that you can include in the article. This is a great way to go about it.

You could ask them to link to similar topics if they have written.

I was immediately drawn to this email by the fact that he offered something in return. What can you offer to your recipients in return for their efforts to promote a blog post?

Niche bookmarking

There are many niche bookmarking websites that focus on particular topics. You can find them at:

If your blog post adds real value to a topic you feel confident about, you can submit it on one or more of the sites or ask a colleague or friend to do so.

Twitter outreach

Twitter is a great outreach tool that can help you get more attention to your blog posts and increase traffic to them. It is a good habit to contact any person or brand mentioned in your article and let them know.

You can reach out to influencers via their Twitter accounts if you don’t have one.

Remarketing on Facebook

It is worth creating a Facebook campaign to remarket larger blog posts. This method is not free, but it will ensure that you are seen by a wider audience. This can be a great way to keep in touch with your existing readers.

Regular Facebook ads can be used to target email subscribers. You can also create a custom audience by using their email addresses. You can also set up a niche demographic detail based on the understanding of your readers.

In Summary

You can try all of the methods to promote your blog posts, then choose the ones that work for you and your audience. It is important to measure your success in order for you to determine what is working.

Here’s a quick recap:

You can try a few of these ideas and find out what works. Remember to measure everything so you know exactly what is working and where you need to invest more money to promote your next post. Good luck!
